Helplife has been a truly humbling experience for my family and me. The past 23 years, dedicated to the upliftment of the underprivileged, more so for women and young girls, have been full of surprises and what I like to call, opportunities. As a medical practitioner and a public health expert, I started my journey in health research for women – creating innovative birthing models in rural obstetrics, for safe birthing with appropriate technology.
During my research, I came across several young girls with disability, who were treated poorly in their communities, that unfortunately also included their parents and relatives – a trend that was begging for a solution. Helplife was registered as a charity in 1999, to help fight stigma and discrimination against women, and has since championed several programs for women and children in rural India. We have expanded our mandate and purpose to spread joy, and spearhead change in areas that most need it, and are working across multiple Social Development Goals (SDGs).
We have an exciting vision for the future we are kicking off some truly innovative ideas – expanding on digital health and disability, livelihood programs for underprivileged communities, and expansion of our programs from state to national level. I thank you for supporting Helplife and ask that you stay connected to our agenda and our mission. If you would like to get in touch, please write to us on helplifepune1999@gmail.com
