Raj Rani Gupta, a resident of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, had lost her brother and father; her disability operations brought her into deep depression, where she stopped moving out of the house, and avoided speaking to anyone. Joining Helplife gave her new Hope through healing, counselling and motivating regularly. She has overcome her locomotor disability, she is back to work through being a trainer in the self-care and wellness program at Helplife. She has become an advocate to empower other girls and support her own family.
Objective:

Beneficiary Background:
Raj Rani Gupta belongs to a middle-class family and has faced numerous challenges in her life. Despite being affected by polio, which caused her disability, she completed her BA degree. Her family’s income primarily came from her brother’s spice shop, but the death of her brother and father led to severe financial difficulties.
Challenges:
- Delay in education due to disability.
- Endured societal stigma and taunts.
- Faced discrimination in school and college.
- Had to leave studies due to financial struggles.
- Found it difficult to commute to the shop or work outside the home.
Solution: Helplife brought several positive changes to Chanchal’s life:

Raj Rani utilized her sewing skills to work from home.
Role in Wellness Program as a Trainer:
By participating in regular wellness sessions, she improved her mental health and is now working as a trainer.

Regular counselling helped her gain mental and social support.
Discovery:
Helplife assessed Raj Rani’s social, mental, physical and financial condition and identified her skills to mainstream her life as any other girl.
